Mandie Lousier: something new

©Mandie Lousier

This is a recent project I started for my narrative class and it is a whole new side to my photography. This is a work in progress illustrating a dream I had many years ago. I don't have a statement for these, nor do I think they really need one, just a title.

Either way this is a nice new breath of fresh air for me.

Mandie.

  1. Wow, Mandie, this is SO different! I can barely believe you took these photos, knowing you've never liked self-portraits and typically shoot on-location, no studio involved and almost never do portraits in general. I'm sure it feels good to make completely different work, but how do you feel it fits in with your typical work? Do you think you'll continue with this?

I'm glad you've come to terms with self-portraits though. It's an important ego-booster, I think.

  2. mandie I am really engaging with the work you're doing for the narratives class...I feel like there are more clues in this work (and the last project) that point to something personal, something that hasn't been revealed yet. I think you should absolutely continue with this and explore the connection between this and your other work; I'm certain there is a common thread between each image, a specific issue that motivates everything you do.

I see all of your work as self portraiture, and I don't see this particular work as being any different. I see the same softness, the same "noiselessness", solitude, and perhaps concealment. In most of your work I feel a certain censorship, and maybe even withdrawal.

It's very interesting keep it up :]

  3. Mandie, I can see how this work relates to your old work that discludes a figure. I love it, and I love your old work. Continue...I am excited to see whatever sort or thing you come up with next!!!
